We have two products that have been certified by the London-based LPCB (Loss Prevention Certification Board), the Trellidor Trojan II – T1000 which is certified to Level 2 standard and the Trellidor Plus – T900 has been certified to Level 1 by the same testing body. The LPCB is widely acknowledged as a leading international certification and approvals body in the fire protection and security industries.

Dead-lock System:

This is a unique patented locking system designed specifically for retractable Trellidor T700, T800, Trellidor Plus – T900 & Trellidor Trojan II – T1000 security barriers.

This patented draw-bolt lock has a single keyhole with multiple locking points in the lock-stile.

Profiles:

One of the most noticeable differences between Trellidor security barriers and other products on the market is the shape of our profiles. We use a unique roll-forming process on all steel components used to make our barriers.

All Trellidor's steel components are roll-formed into u-channel profiles with reinforced edges rolled back 180°.

Benefits:

• Superb corrosion resistance as we're able to coat all surfaces. Our competitors use square tubing, which is difficult to coat inside, resulting in the product being vulnerable to corrosion from the inside out

Top Track &Wheels:

Retractable Gates gates are hung from the top track and the security gate wheels fit inside this track. This ensures the barrier operates smoothly with low friction, reducing the need for maintenance. The wheel holders are made from glass-filled Nylon 6/6 which, because of its strength and resistance to corrosion is used for engine parts in the motor industry. Every upright on our security gates contains a wheel holder to evenly distribute the weight of the gate, increasing strength and reducing wear and tear.

Rivets:

Trellidor's specially designed rivets help provide optimum strength in our security gates and window grilles. Many competitors opt for normal 'off-the-shelf' blind rivets which have a low tensile strength, allowing the barrier's components to be pulled apart relatively easily. Our rivets avoid this weakness and help to improve the strength of our protective barriers.

Track & Sill:

The bottom track is an area commonly targeted for attempted break-ins. Trellidor has designed a unique track along with sill guides to help combat this potential attack point.

Slam Lock System:

This is a unique patented slam lock system designed specifically for retractable Trellidor security barriers and incorporates the dead-lock technology. This locking system is optional on most Trellidor models.

The Trellidor slam lock has three modes of operation (unique to Trellidor). You choose which mode of operation to use when it suits you.

Sash:

The sash of a trellis door or security gate is made up of the upright bars, the links that cross over these bars, and the rivets that join them all together. Trellidor Retractable trellis gates are strengthened using double uprights (front and back) with links that cross over and connect three upright bars (competitors usually join only two uprights together). Our trellis doors operate smoothly and stack neatly to the side as a result of these features.

Fixings:

Every component making up a security barrier including security gate screws must add to its ability to resist an attack by an intruder. Trellidor uses unique screws that can only be fitted or removed with a custom-made drive socket to help reduce the risk of break-ins. Our security gate screws are also longer than usual to provide extra pull-out resistance for our security gates and burglar bars.

Our fixings are of a unique design that can only be fitted or removed with a custom-made drive socket. This increased tamper resistance minimises break-ins.

Shoulder Slides:

The shoulder slides are purpose designed nylon components that joins the trellis to the framework of Trellidor security barriers. The shoulder slides fit snugly into the framework channel, which ensures smooth operation and enhances the overall security and integrity of the barrier.

Fully-Framed Barriers:

Fully framed security barriers and gates are able to resist attack better than semi-framed or unframed gates. Retractable Gates gates are fully framed, with the four corners interconnected. This means that the gate is not dependent on the fixings only when an intruder is trying to lever it out. Anchor and strike jambs positioned over the bottom track add to the gate's strength because they connect the bottom track to the sides of the barrier.

Corner cleats join the top track to the anchor and strike jambs. This provides increased strength as it connects the top track to the sides of the security barrier.

There are many different patio security designs to choose from, so let's consider two of the most popular options, sliding security gate and roller shutter doors, both made by Trellidor.

Sliding Security Gates:

Steel and aluminium sliding security gates are a cost-effective answer to home safety, particularly if you have a spacious patio. This is also known as expandable security because the gates stack neatly to the side when you don't need them, and then expand when you slide them closed along a bottom track.

Sliding gates can be fitted to just about any size opening, from small city apartment balconies to large outdoor entertainment areas. They are an effective deterrent to criminals if they are good quality and will give you many years of protection.

Although slam lock security gates are available, they are not the best type of lock to choose. The benefit is that it locks automatically when you slam it shut. One of the dangers is that you can easily lock yourself out of your own house.

Also, it is exceedingly rare that you will need to slam your gate shut in the face of a criminal. They are more likely to have walked into your home through a door or security gate that has been left open.

A better option is a dead lock, which requires a key to open and close it. These lock securely with a single throw or turn of the key, locking in several places in the lock stile, not just in one place, adding to its strength.

This design is stronger design than a slam lock. No activation is needed to lock the gate and there is no danger of locking yourself out or of children accidently locking themselves in a room or outside the home.

In terms of appearance, you will be looking out through trellis-style bars when the gates are closed and locked, but it's a small price to pay for being safe. The gates can be opened when you want to get into your garden or pool area.

On the plus side, when the gates are closed and locked for safety reasons, you get great airflow through them. And if you have little dogs, they can generally squeeze through the bars to get in and out. Cut-out 'doggy doors' for bigger dogs are discouraged, however, as they weaken the gates and negate the product's guarantee.

Retractable or sliding gates can be livened up with a bit of colour, so they don't have to be white. Consider bolder options like black, aluminium or charcoal or perhaps a colour to match your door and window frames.
